The Hidden Valley

Gordon Runray of the Runray Ranch, and several of his closest neighbors have reported missing livestock due to a large feline predator, thought to be a cougar. When it is hunted down and killed, it is revealed to be a much larger and more primitive animal: a cave lion. Meanwhile, Stacey, Alexis and their brothers venture through its lair following a runaway horse and stumble into a valley full of ice age mammoths and other megafauna thought to have been extinct for thousands of years.

This sequel to The Hidden Valley finds Stacey's mare Appleby pregnant by a primitive stallion. Stacey wrestles with questions of morality and ownership as the foal's birth approaches. When a security breach exposes on mass media a billion-dollar secret that the tribe has been keeping for millenia, Stacey, Donny, Alexis and their families are forced to make difficult decisions that will impact the future of the Valley for generations to come.
